The Matelec HydroSTART FPC-82143 is a premium three-phase single pump controller engineered for high-demand applications such as sewage pump-out, stormwater transfer, pressure boosting, and industrial water systems. It delivers advanced pump protection, intuitive control, and versatile configuration options in a robust IP56-rated powder-coated mild steel enclosure with an inner door, making it ideal for outdoor installations in harsh environments.

Equipped with a modern capacitive touch keypad, LED system indicators, and integrated pump current sensing, the HydroSTART series provides wide-range electronic overload, undercurrent, and zero-current protection. Six configurable digital inputs enable flexible setup for level or pressure control, prime loss detection, or system enable functions. The controller supports both Level Control Mode (up to 5 float switches) and Pressure Control Mode (up to 3 pressure switches), adapting to a variety of pump system designs.

Smart control features such as duty alternation, staggered pump starts, anti-seize protection, and “smart chirp” auto-silencing alarms minimise downtime and maintenance. The system also includes BMS integration via volt-free outputs and Modbus RTU RS485 communication for remote monitoring.

Functions

• Level control mode – Level empty operation controlled by up to 5 float switches: Low level, duty stop, duty start, standby start and high level
• Pressure control mode – Pressure boost operation controlled by up to 3 pressure switches: Duty start, standby start and low pressure
• Duty sharing and alternation – Duty pump alternates on pump start and after 30 minutes of continuous running in alternation mode, or 6 hours of accumulated running in recirculation mode
• Staggered pump start – Prevents excessive current draw and reduces water surge
• Manual pump control – Manual pump mode with optional 5 minute timeout to revert to auto mode

• Low pressure protection – Alarms and shuts down pumps if low pressure input is closed for 60 seconds
• Prime loss protection – Alarms and shuts down running pumps if there is no flow for 30 seconds
• Pump anti-seize protection – Runs pumps periodically during low use to prevent seizing
• Pump current sensing – Provides adjustable pump overload, undercurrent and zero current protection
